Why am I still here?

Honestly.

It is 2:43 on the Fridya before the Christmas weekend.

Every single person in my office is still here.

We just got an email from the VP ... I got all sorts of excited because I thought he would tell us to go home. Nope. Just a simple "happy holidays to you and yours."

Want to know what would make me happy?

LETTING ME GO HOME!

oh. happy holidays.

How do I get there from here?

So this morning I walk in for day one of week three at my new job. Only to find that the only way I know how to get to my cube is completely blocked off because of some construction. I literally stared at the staircase I have taken every day and just looked and felt lost. It was almost a sign "Just turn around and go back to bed" ... and I almost did. Until the nice gym guy walks by and says "You're new. And you don't know how to get to your desk right now do you?" And of course I said no. And he guided me up and down in two different elevators.

Let me explain that my building is divided into four "buildings," (or corridors as most people would call them, but nooooooo) with a fifth located "across the street" and building six is down the street and sells beer. I can't wait for a meeting in building six. You know that funny "You cant get there from here" Poland Spring water commercial? Well it seriously exists here. Only levels three and four actually go straight across the four corridors ... if you're on one or two (I'm on two) you have to go up to get over. If that makes any sense at all to you, please feel free to come and guide me through my own building cause I am lost as all hell.

Two things I do know how to find: The store with 50% off. It is about 40 yards from my desk and I can't go anywhere without walking by it. And looking. and loving. Second, the cafeteria. Yes. It's great. A bit more expensive then I expected. But the salad bar is great and I will be hitting it up a lot. Although this week my lovely boyfriend did some grocery shopping yesterday so I will be bringing lunch this week and saving some cash to buy some Christmas presents.

Oh boy, Christmas shopping.
Yikes.

Day 26

Okay so I screwed up on this A Post a Day Every day.

And I'm surprised that people actually noticed.

Given it was mostly McCashew and McWriter.

But whatevs. Others apparently are reading too.

Well the diet thing hasn't gone so great. I am down 4. Which I guess is good. But it's still very fluctuating. And I decided that the "weigh ins" wasn't the best way to motivate me to log in and post.

So yes, it's Day 26 and I quit. Not the diet. But the blogging about it. Back to the questions for McQuestionable.

Can you change your life in just four months?

Please note:
Entries without a question are from here on out known as A Post A Day Every Day posts (a new name for NaBloPoMo cause McCashew and I hate it). I hope you enjoy it - cause well, I think it's going to suck.

Goal: To lose 25 pounds
Deadline: March 1, 2008 (a vacation with G!)
How will I get there:
  • Using this blog to tell you each and every detail, or lack there of, of my journey (struggle)
  • A new job will give me a new attitude, especially since it's for an athletic apparel company
  • A shorter commute should guide me directly to the gym before or after work
  • New eating habits, especially throughout the holidays (holidays include football games)
  • iVillage.com - Walk On Rock On to a New You
  • You people's love and support.

So I wont be telling you how much I weigh, cause welp, I can't bear to type it. But I am going to start with an absolute of ZERO (0) and go up or down - hopefully down, from there. I will let you know how it goes.

I've read that you can change a habit in 21 days ... so I'm hoping 30 will get me on track to that final goal.

Here I go .......

Why won't my google analytics work?!

McCashew HELP!

It is "waiting to collect data" .... but it has been more then 24 hours. I want my google analytics.

Plus I just received my first random comment ... Ryler32 - who are you? Your profile is private so I couldn't see your blog -- if you have one -- keep the comments coming people. I can write more about TV. I could do that for NaBloPoMo ...

Oh ....

October 31, 2007

What is on our DVR?

Ha. Wouldn't you like to know?

It's our secret world. I will go in order starting with Mondays ... so as not to show favoritism.

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother
Big Bang Theory
Heroes
Jon & Kate Plus 8
The Hills

Tuesday:
NO TV TUESDAY.
We've actually been pretty good about.
That's because there are no good shows on Tuesdays.
(Feel free to offer up suggestions as we need MORE things to watch)

Wednesday:
ANTM - America's Next Top Model
Gossip Girl
Real World
Pageant Place

Thursday:
Grey's
Big Shots (GREAT new show, watch it!)

Friday:
Friday Night Lights

Sat & Sun:
We've got nothing.

Let it be known that G will watch ALL of these things with me except Heroes and ANTM. And Heroes is even starting to get to me ... but you gotta love Tyra and those snarky models.

What're you watching?
What else SHOULD we be watching?

October 29, 2007

Where were you when the Red Sox won the World Series?!

The next question now has to be ... which one?!

YAAAAAAAAAY RED SOX!!!!!!!

So the answer ...

2004: I was at An Tua Nua - a bar in the Fenway area - watching with my best friends from high school Pam and Anna. It was my senior year in college and it was the best night ever. Anna flew home from her studies abroad in Spain. We watched the Sox win and celebrated by pouring beer all over each other. Hard earned beer. We then rushed down to Kenmore to join the crowds .... and quickly came face to face with some police in riot gear - and ran in the other direction! I think I was the only person getting on the B line train going OUT of the city rather then IN! But it was awesome and I will never forget it.

2007: A very different scene. Greg and I stayed in after a long and busy weekend. We watched the game together ... and as it got later and later we realized how "old" we are! We were struggling to stay awake, refusing to leave the living room and the couch for the bedroom because I knew I would fall asleep! Fianlly we watched the last half inning in the bedroom. Watched about 15 minutes of celebration, and passed out for the night! Does that mean we were any less excited then we were three years earlier -- I dont think so. Does that mean we are waaay lamer then we were - yes, definitely.

Any where and any way you watchted the game -- it was a GREAT game and a GREAT series.

GOOOOOOO RED SOX!!!!!!!!!

October 25, 2007

What do you think I should blog about?

So I joined that Nablopomo thingy. What do you think I should blog about for the month of November?

Or just what do you think I should blog about tomorrow?

Cause this is my blog for today. Ha. Cheap. I know.

October 24, 2007

What about Coach Jags?

"Hey what do you think of Coach Bags?" - coworker of Leigh's

"I think that he's a great coach. He's been doing a really good job keeping the players heads on straight and focused. He's been great for BC, but anyone is better then Tom O'Brien." - Leigh

"I said Coach bags, as in the leather bags, I am thinking of buying one for my girlfriend. But umm looks like you are really obsessed with this whole BC football thing." - coworker.

Umm yeah I think we've all gotten a little obsessed with BC football.

But I LOVE IT.

GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!

October 22, 2007

Did you hear the news?

I (finally!) got a new job!! I will be working for Reebok, located in Canton MA. My position is still in HR which I am excited about because I really don't think I needed to switch careers but rather switch companies. I will be part of a program called the Functional Trainee program - where I will do rotations in different functions of HR for 12-18 months, 3 or 4 months at a time, and at the end they will help me find a full time position within the company where I best fit. I am so excited!!! I will start on November 12th. My last day here will be Nov 6th. And I will take a few days off and go down to Virginia Tech to watch the Tech vs FSU game.

That brings me to my current connundrum. Greg and I will be breaking up this week. No worries. No gasps. It's only going to be for 24 hours. 10 hours before the game, 4 hours during, and 10 hours after. Therefore nothing we say during those 24 hours can or will be used against us in the court of our house. Haha. In all seriousness I think we've gone a little far with the competition this year. Please check out our pumpkins that we carved this weekend. As Sara stated earlier - it looks like BC is on FIRE!

Other things ... everything is really great right now. I'm really excited that now that I have found a job I can relax and settle in to doing some more fun things with my evenings rather then looking for silly jobs! I'm def up for reading some good books this winter so let me know what you all are reading.

Greg and I are doing great. He still loves his job but hates his commute now since they moved out of the city and into Burlington, MA (for those that dont know it's WAY north of the city and takes him about an hour and 20 min on a good day to get there! ew!!) So other then the BC vs Tech fiasco coming up on Thursday we've just been busy watching the Red Sox and Patriots and both Tech and BC all having really great seasons.

Oh and one last thing ... how cute is this baby?!?!

October 17, 2007

Don't you wish you were clever sometimes?

So I sent a company wide email to everyone stating
"Someone left a pair of glasses in Conference room 527 please come and get them if they are yours."

The CFO promptly writes back:
"If one of them has red wine in it ... I call dibs."

Sometimes I wish I was [were?] clever.

What did I do last weekend?

Well I haven't posted in a while so I will go with something basic. What did I do last weekend?

I know it's Wednesday, a little late for a weekend recap, and I really should be looking forward to next weekend already (which I am) but I am sitting at work and welp, I want to write something. DEAL WITH IT.

Last weekend:
Friday:
- Interview. ALL. DAY. LONG. with the most fabulous company that I just found out yesterday that I kind of sort of almost have the job. (More for another post)
- Phone calls with parents in Paris and boyfriend in Burlington discussing how interview went. Parents: "Nice coool great can't wait to hear more but we're in Paris so we'll talk when we get home" (They were much more attentive than that but let's be honest - I shouldn't have called them anyway they were on vacation!!) Boyfriend: "Great but go take a nap and get on the T by 5:00 to head to Fenway cause ......... I GOT ALCS TICKETS FOR US!!!!!!!"
- Yes that's right I went to the ALCS game 1 Red Sox vs Cleveland. It was awesome. We won. We sang sweet Caroline. We drank some beers. We had a wonderful night.
Saturday:
- Hang out and relax in the am.
- VTech Football game at Noon.
- Arrival of cousin Luke at 1:30 - He alone is enough entertainment for a month.
- Departure for downtown 2:45
- Arrival downtown 3:25
- BC Football kickoff 3:30
- Watch BC game - WOOHOOOO We're still undefeated. ND what? ND who? OH yeah ND nothing!! Though we didn't play our best we're still doing great - #3 baby! Go Eagles!
- Attempt to watch Red Sox game -- only make it through about 4 innings because it had already been a long day
Sunday:
- Watched LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL ON MTV (amazing. please go and dvr it so you can watch it because it was awesome and I really wish that I had seen it live but this was a really close second)
- Went shopppping and bought the cutest jacket!! And watched as G purchased a lot of "big boy" clothes -- aka new work pants and shoes.
- Decided that we would both go home and watch the Patriots game at home with our respective families. Being lucky enough that it's only a 30 min drive to G's parents house and another 10 min to get to my parents. We are very lucky.
- Watched the game and had some dinner and saw all my parents beautiful Paris pictures.
- Drove home. Passed out by 9:30!

Monday:
- What's that you say? Monday is not a part of the weekend? Well you're going to have to DEAL with it because Monday was a part of my weekend this weekend.
- Went to work (blaaaaah)
- Drove and found free parking near the Garden (SCORE!)
- Dinner and drinks with friends pre-concert.
- MAROON FIVE CONCERT!!!!!
- Watched the sad ending to the Sox game ...

All in all ... very busy weekend .... but not very productive.

We've got a long list of "to-do's" for this weekend ... Hope we can knock a few of those out.

Was that too much information? Well you dont have to read it if you dont want to know it! :P

October 5, 2007

Where is the best place to relax in the entire world?

You got it ...

That's the view from sitting here ...

I like entertaining other people with what I'm thinking ... but then I start to want to write some more personal things/feelings/gripes and I'm afraid to do that. I am afraid someone somewhere along the line will read it and say "wow what a b*tch" ... see I can't even type a curse word because I am on my work computer and for some reason I think that is a bad thing. So I will try to blog more, but I also am a little nervous about the whole idea of a blog -- mostly because I just found two blogs of coworkers and I found out way more about them then I should know. Not that I really have anything to hide -- but if I were to say something about someone that is bothering me and even try to leave it annonymous - it probably wont work that way and someone's feeligns will get hurt. Ugh. Oh well. I will come to terms with it eventually.

Why are visitors the best?

Visitors are the best because it makes you clean your house. Umm ... basically I felt bad bringing two of Boston's Finest into a dirty house so GMoney and I cleaned the place as if the Queen of Sheba herself was coming to visit. (Courtney and Kim basically are at the same level as a Queen - just without the title!) We organized, we cleansed closets and "junk drawers", the shower was scrubbed, we left no table unturned.

****Note to my mom and anyone else who thinks we are slobs: we aren't, it's clean in there, just not "let's eat off the floor clean" - not that I also condone eating off the floor, but if something were to fall on the floor this weekend - I would give it the 5 minute rule rather then the typical 5 second rule.****

Another reason they are the best is because I get to get some hardcore girl time! Someone to get ready to go out with! Someone to ask if they like my outfit - or if they have a piece of jewelry that would go better with what I'm wearing, someone to help me pluck my eyebrows (cause I suck at it), to do makeup with, help me curl my hair, to go get a pedicure with, to admire new shoes or a bag ... those are things I do miss about roommates that aren't your boyfriend.

Not that I dont love living with G but the sports, sports, sports all the freaking time is starting to get to me. Dont get me wrong either - I love football, well I love BC football, and the Patriots ... and I've even taken to Tech football too - and the Red Sox - love them (although Gag-me and J.D.Suckass can leave whenever they want) - but it's the lack of someone to enjoy the Gilmore Girls at 5:00 every day and the marathons of America's Next Top Model on MTV. G does his fair share of watching girlie shows with me - he loves the Hills and Newport Harbor as much as I do.

So I swear this isn't a bashing G post but rather a I-am-so-excited-to-have-some-girls-in-the-apartment-this-weekend post. Visitors are the best!

What do I love the most?

Please note the question is What I love ... not Who .... so no arguments from anyone (you know who you are) please:

I love Google the most. The most most most out of ANYthing in the world. I think McCashew knows this the most -- she loves to send me updates on things Google can do - as if I don't already know EVERYTHING about Google. (just kidding, keep the updates coming!) Seriously. I think I was the first person to use GoogleDocs, I GoogleMap everything, I even blog with Blogger (aka GoogleBlog). Here are the following reasons I love everything that is Google.

1. Gmail - One word: Search. Lots of words: You can search for your emails!! It is so freaking awesome. Just this past weekend I was in need of directions to McCashew's house for her Christening - and I remembered that my brother had emailed me directions a month or so ago. I simply typed "Steve directions" into the search and BAM the email with the word document popped up. Also gmail automatically updates if someone you are in an email chain writes back to you. So in my incessant emails with Pam -- sometimes she writes two emails before I can finish writing my response to the first one -- and it lets me know so I can keep on top of things like giving her sh*t about stuff. It's great.

2. Gchat - One word: Obsessed. Lots of words: No more flashing orange bubbles on the bottom of your screen - if you have gmail open then it's just like having a buddy list open all the time. Any of your friends who have Gmail are on Gchat and it's just that simple. Chat away. You can make faces like this: ;) and :-P and they will move and turn the right way and wink or stick out their tongue. Seriously, try it. But only in Gchat.

3. GoogleMaps - One word: Reassuring. Lots of words: I am obsessed with directions and knowing where I am going - just ask anyone who has ever driven in a car with me. I hate not knowing where I am, being lost, well, makes me insane. GoogleMaps lets you not only simply get the best directions - it also lets you know about traffic in the area. It tells you about construction. Also if you say, want to take a back road you know of but aren't quite sure, you can simply drag the "direction" line over to that road and GoogleMaps readjusts the route for you. Also you can "add a destination" if you are going to stop at two different places - it gives you the best way to get between the two. Oh yeah and the "search" function on GoogleMaps is pretty ridiculous as well. Put in "Boston, MA" into the location and "Bowling" ... it will give you all the bowling alley's located within the map you are looking at.

4. GoogleDocs - One word: Organized. Lots of words: I love google docs. They have a word doc, an spreadsheet doc, and other docs that I dont use. (yet!) So obviously these are cool because if you have something saved on your google account you can access it anywhere there is a computer. Something like - my address book! So wherever I am - work, home, parents house - I can open up my google documents and have any and all addresses I need. It's awesome. Also you can share Google Docs with other Google users. So again, my address book, well now that mine is mostly updated, I plan on sharing it with my family and friends who would want to have the same people's addresses. It's the greatest for To Do lists.

5. iGoogle - One word: Home. Lots of words: Hi it's the coolest. A personalized homepage. Mine has my gmail account (shows only the first 5, nice to always have open), the date and time, the weather at my top 5 favorite locations, a love quote of the day, a funny quote of the day, driving direction page, and a link to my googleCalendar ...

6. GoogleCalendar - One word: Heaven. Lots of words: Don't even get me started. I think I have about 8 different calendars going on in my life right now but this one is seriously the best. You can color code things, you can make things repeat annually or weekly or bi-weekly (PAY DAY beyotches!!) ... you can also "share" your calendars with other Google users. Or there are things called public calendars such as "Boston College Fall 2007 Football Schedule" or "Virginia Tech Fall2007 Football Schedule" so that you can figure out which games are potential conflicts for relationships and what date the famous "BC vs Tech we-are-not-boyfriend-and-girlfriend-on-this-day" date is. You know something like that should be planned so that everyone is well aware of the situation.

Well that is it for now. I'm sure there is more to come in another addition of "Why google is the best" according to McQuestionable.

Why do you love Google?

Or I guess I should ask - what do YOU love the most?

Why do babies grow so fast!?

This weekend I become McCashews Godmother. I am sooo excited!!! I have her baptism gown in my car all pressed and ready to go by McMom. This is the same gown that almost my entire family was baptized in. Me, McWriter, McCashew's Dad, all the cousins, all the cousins babies who aren't babies anymore by the by - they are old, and that's where this post is coming from!

My cousins were about 13, 11, and 9 when I was born -- but we "grew up" in the same town - and were very close. I always considered them as close as siblings. They were our constant babysitters that just seemed like best friends. They went off to college far far away (you know, in MA & NH) and I have never been sadder! Years later they all returned home, or at least close enough that we could be around to be a part of all three of their weddings and then able to watch their families grow.

I remember when the first "cousin once removed" was born -- I was a Freshman in High School, McWriter was a senior and we both got called to the Principals office (pre cell phones) .... and were told that Timmy Turtle was born!! The McFamily was so excited! Not only were we excited we were obsessed - that baby has more pictures then my brother, sister and I combined! Then Turtle was followed by a crazy redheaded little brother named Shane-o, then there was the first girl cousin, Chloe, and followed quickly by a baby sister, Miss Teegan (also my Goddaughter!), and the third family began with Joey, and then Nolan rounded out the first family and finally Declan closed the group off at seven. (I think it's closed, you never do know though!!)

So needless to say the McFamily had their hands full! My brother was married somewhere in between all those births ... I'm pretty sure Teegan and Declan (or was it Joey?) were inside babies at the time. Regardless ... the point of the blog ... well let's just say when I celebrated my 24th birthday this summer Chloe celebrated her 4th the day after; Timothy is 9 and in the third grade; Shane has started kindergarten this year; Joey and Declan are two of the smartest 'babies' I have ever met; Nolan now runs around like a mad man and Teegan well she's just got the most beautiful smile and the cutest little pierced ears. They have all grown up. And way too fast in my mind.

But mostly, my McCashew has grown up way too quickly for me. She's 7 months old now, check out the difference a few months makes:

McCashew 2/4/07

McCashew 9/4/07

So, tell me, why do babies grow so fast?

(Also, does this blog post make me old??)

Are you ready for some football??

Oh. My. Goodness! So I thought we had a crazy summer. I thought I was go-go-go all summer long, knowing that my fall would be nice and relaxing ... am I crazy?! Was I not raised in a football-loving family. Do I not live with my football CRAZED boyfriend? What. was. I. thinking?!?!

Last weekend we were football crazy. Friday night tons of BC '05ers were in town because of the BC vs. NCState football game ... one of my favorite reasons for still living in Boston ... I can guarantee that people will come to me at least once a year even if they have ulterior motives and are really looking for my mom's meatballs and a good football game - I accept the 3rd place status. But seriously. A hard and fun night Friday ... leading into an early rising to prepare for the noon tailgate ... followed by a 4 hour football game in the 95 degree heat (I'm not exhaggerating!) ... followed by another hour of tailgating ... and a tedious trip home ... only to clean the apartment, go out and pick up some food, because we were entertaing for the National Holiday that was Virignia Tech vs LSU.

Jokes aside, we (cough::G::cough) had been waiting for this day for a LOOONG time. Well basically since they put the schedule out. This was to be THE game. They had game day for a second week in a row (even though it was AT LSU, but I digress) and it was going to be a BIG game for Tech. Well. Needless to say, it didn't go that way. And as the 9:00pm game lasted until about 1:00am - even though I only lasted until about midnight - the mighty Hokies fell and fell hard. The Tech fans were severely dissappointed by the scoreboard but are now very excited for their new quarter back TT, Tyrod Taylor!!! So I'll leave this portion of the post saying -- GO HOKIES! (That is unless they're playing BC, then, yeah right! GO EAGLES!!)

But, it didn't end there, seriously. It never ends. Sunday morning I woke up to P-A-T-S PATS PATS PATS. So you know what I said? Umm - NO, I'll be watching TLC in the bedroom thank you very much.

Don't get me wrong. I do. I love football. It's a fun sport. I even have my own fantasy team this year. [A post for another day.] But seriously. Three games? One weekend?! NO THANK YOU. And this was just week one. I am pretty sure this will be my life through November. Oh. My. Goodness.

Where were you on September 11th?

Pam is my best friend. Our dad’s were good friends in high school. And they both ended up raising families in the same town. They each had three kids and all the kids were the same ages going down the line. Pam's and my older siblings were friendly, but Pam and I formed a friendship that I know will last a lifetime. Pam and I email all day long while at work. (I swear I am productive and actually do work while at work, I swear it!!) I didn’t post on 9/11 like I wanted to, but we emailed about it. The following is our correspondence from that morning. I apologize for the lower-case and slang – these weren’t supposed to be for blogging purposes.

C: how's nyc on 9/11? [pam lives and works downtown in NYC]

P: we [her coworkers] were actually just talking about that. i TOTALLY didn’t even realize it was 9/11 until ten minutes ago. there is nothing visibly happening here. isnt that a little weird?

C: it is weird. i was online yesterday trying to find any sort of article about the anniversary and i there was no coverage on boston.com, cnn.com, nytimes.com .... i finally found a ton of stuff on msnbc.com -- but it was just strange.

on matty in the morning (kiss 108) they like talked about it for a few minutes and then just moved on .... so i listened to the country music channel on the way in -- they had a moment of silence at 8:46 (when the first plane hit) .... and had some patriotic songs on and they were at least talking about it.

do you remember where you were when you found out?

P: of course, i went for a run and came back to my dorm to take a shower and saw this girl on my floor like IN HYSTERICS, bawling and like screaming (turns out she was from nyc). so i took a shower and came back into my room, turned on the tv and literally watched the second plane hit. i remember feeling like i was in independence day. [the movie] like i just stood there thinking "so this is how the world is going to end". to say i was f'ing freaked out would be a large understatement.

C: my roommate walked to the shower, but came back like 30 seconds later, saying that one of the girls in the hall was sobbing/screaming crying (her parents were on a flight to CA, but not one of the ones that went down) ... so we turned on the TV, watched the tv.... then i went and took a shower -- like it was still not a terrorist attack then ... got back to the room, got ready for the day, then i went and met up with leigh, by the time we got to the dining hall -- they had fallen. i went to class anyway --- i dont know why i just kept functioning like this wasn't the end of the world -- we got to class, i talked to ashley for the first time that day [ashley became my roommate for the next three years of college] - i told her what had happened - she freaked -- then my professor came in and told the rest of the class - and one boy like stood up all confused and was like "can i borrow someone's cell phone, my fathers works at the WTC" - i gave him my phone ... he couldn't get in touch with him -- class was dismissed. i went and sat on o'neil plaza calling my family ....... my dad was supposed to fly home from newark that morning – no one could get in touch with him until stevie finally did via cell phone. my dad got one of the last rental cars and drove home.

P: crazy shit man. especially to happen the first week that you are living away from home ever. veryunsettling.

C: yeah i was talking to my little cousin and her friends at the bc football game on saturday (they are freshman) and i was asking them about their freshman first week activities ... and i was like "did you go to a red sox game??" and they were like "naaww man wish we could but they couldn't get us tickets" i was like "oh that suuucks ... we had one, we were supped to go on september 12th ... but then september 11th happened so we ended up going like two weeks later" and they kind of looked at me and i was like "yeah i was a freshmen when the real 9/11 happened. it was pretty crazy" and they were like "wow i couldn’t imagine something like that happening right now. we barely know anyone" ... so crazy.

P: yeah, im really thankful that i did that volunteer program a couple of weeks early so that i actually had some good friends by the time it happened. a lot of my friends were from DC which was sorta scary. one of my good friend's mom was working the building across the street and was severely injured by flying debris. So scary.

So that was part of my September 11th story. A lot more happened that day. Some of which I remember vividly, some of which the details are foggy (I have the worst memory ever) but what I wont ever forget is how my life was changed from that day forward. BC held a prayer vigil at noon that day - when so many questions were still unanswered - and fighter jets flew over our heads … I just closed my eyes and prayed that the worst was over – and yet, 6 years later, we are fighting a war and people are dying every day. I just don’t get it.

What's the bane of my existence?

Running. Plain and simple. Running to me is like scratching nails over a chalkboard for some. Running is like the torture you see Jack Bauer deal with on a regular basis on 24. Running will kill me one day, I promise. It will kill me just so I can prove to everyone who has ever told me that running "isn't that bad" .... I can tell you now, it's how I will find my demise.

I do it though, because it's good for you, because it gets you moving, gets you exercising. Actually it does motivate me to eat better too. I find that when I am exercising I am eating better and saying "NO" to the chocolate bin. But honest to freaking God .... running sucks. So much. I would rather walk 10 miles then run 1. I'm not exaggerating. (Which I am known to do.) This is the honest truth. I might take up speed walking. You know where people like dislocate their hips so that they can move faster. Yup, new plan, speed walking marathons here I come.

I bought new running shoes. I got a good discount. And they are PINK. PINK running shoes. They're so freaking cute. But the first time I walked in them - I got a huge blister, so now I'm working on overcoming that obstacle in addition to the whole "I hate running" obstacle.

But hey, yesterday -- I ran. I ran 2 miles. And I walked about .5 in addition to that. So in my mind, good for me.

But I promise ... If I have an untimely death -- you can blame it on the running.

What can you buy for $875 at Walmart?

i really dont know ... perhaps some school supplies, perhaps a laptop computer ... who really knows, except for maybe the bastard who stole my credit card information and attempted to buy $875 worth of CRAP from walmart. yes that's right. this girl right here was a "victim" of credit card fraud. yes i use the word "victim" lightly because i know there are so many other more horrifying things that could have happened to me (including this being my debit card and not my credit card and having them wipe out ALL my funds) ... but it still just sucks.

i had pushed and pushed against getting a credit card. i'm a stickler for money -- if i dont have it, i dont spend it -- i constantly check my online banking to see what "extras" i can splurg on for the week. and if i can't - well i take it easy on the spending. typically i have no money issues. so i dont know why this is bothering me so much. i dont "need" a credit card. i lived for 22 years without one. (and i wasn't even "blessed" with a parental-just-in-case-credit-card)

But now, knowing that some jerk decided to buy gas in SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA (believe me I would have rathered been in California then Syracuse NY this weekend but that is beside the point) and try to "trick" the bank into thinking it was okay for them to be buying $875 worth of whatever from Walmart ... just makes me furious. UGH.

One good thing -- Bank of America stepped it UP with phone calls and emails to make sure I was aware of what was going on -- they didn't even process tshe $875 because they knew it didn't seem right. Finally, BOA is good for something other than the "Keep the Change" program.

What would you buy at Walmart for $875??

Wanna see a picture?

C&G circa feb 2003.

C&G circa aug 2007.

haha. not much has changed, but yet, so much has changed.

Should I be concerned?

That I slept for almost 12 straight hours last night? No joke, not exaggerating, I was complaining about a headache/wishy-washy feeling all day to anyone who would listen. I left work a tad early to get a jump on the traffic (and well because it's the week before Labor Day and everyone and their brother is out on vacation) and I got home just in time to lay on the couch. The sympathetic (or fed-up-with-the-complaining) boyfriend told me to go take a nap and it would make me feel better. So I did. And I slept from 6:30pm-11:30pm. Woke up, incoherently asked previously mentioned sympathetic boyfriend to make me a sandwich. He obliged. I ate. I got back into bed and slept ... straight. through. the. night.

No I didn't have a late night the night before. And though the previous weekend was fun -- it was not one of those stay-up-and-party-all-night weekends. So why was I so tired? I have no clue. Do I feel absolutely fabulous today? Yes indeed I do.

I guess I just needed a recharge. No need for concern .... right?

Who created "9-5"?

Who made up "9-5"? I hate "9-5". It is a very long portion of the day and it takes up all the good parts. You know the time when you are most awake, and alert.

In the summer the sun is shining so hard from "9-5" that you have to leave your car windows open so that when you get to the it at the end of the day (you know -- "5") when the actual temperature reaches 99 degrees and your car is so stuffed of all the sun you missed all day because you were sitting in an office that was locked at 71 degrees and you didn't even know that it was nice outside.

In the winter - well it's cold and you just want to be in your bed with your flannel pajamas a good book and a good person to snuggle with. (A good movie is a good substitute for a book or a snuggle partner, in my opinon.)

But no - "9-5" we are at work, 5 days a week, with only two days off for a weekend ("weekend" - dont even get me started) ... working away at our desks and looking out the window (if you're lucky enough, which I am - which I guess is also unlucky, because I am staring at a crystal blue sky right now - dying to get outside!). So this is to the inventor of "9-5" ... you suck.
